This bike rocks!

I've been riding my 4130 All-Road Joshua Tree Edition with 650b wheels for about a week now. Three rides for a total of about 30 miles so far. I've ridden in SPD pedal mode and flat shoe mode using the SBC All-Road pedals I installed. Both have been fun and comfortable. Photos do not do the color justice! This bike has been an awesome introduction to using a 1x drivetrain. While SBC may not like me saying so, the derailleur is handling the 11-51 cassette I put on really well. I'd say that there are really three things that I wish were different. First, the bike weighs 30 lbs with pedals according to my scale. I was hoping for less given the specs. Second, I'd like more braking power. I'm accustomed to hydraulic brakes and may get used to these. Third, I wish I was not having trouble keeping the derailleur adjusted correctly. I'll run through the Park Tool Youtube rear derailleur adjustment process, have it working great, then by the time I finish a ride it still shifts but the indexing seems off. I've seen reviews of this derailleur elsewhere that have reported something similar with that reviewer believing the problem was the lack of detentes on the barrel adjuster. Finally, I wish the bike had not arrived with a bent derailleur hanger. The bike mechanic that assembled my bike said this happens commonly with bikes that are shipped and not just with SBC. He did his best to straighten it but it is still not quite right and could be contributing to my shifting issues. Please don't take these wishes to mean I don't like this bike. Without these it would be a five-star bike!

Awesome ride!

This trusty steed will power through it all! Very comfortable frame (5’9” and size small frame) and surprisingly comfortable seat for their basic state branded seat. Smooth ride, great shifting, too much fun! 650b wheels roll easy over my local gravel roads. Can’t beat this for the money. Adventure awaits..

I LOVE this bike!

I have gone for rides on both wheelsets in conditions from champagne asphalt to a 40-mile rough gravel ride. This bike is an absolute pleasure to ride.

Fun, Fun, Fun

For the price point, the 4130 All-Road is an amazing deal. I went with the 650b setup, upgraded saddle, and flip-flop clip pedals. Already I've found myself riding this more than my daily bike. Super responsive, climbs like a beast, and can handle MTB trails (if you're rad enough).

One thing to mention is that the cassette will top out on flats. You definitely have a max speed, especially with the chunky 650b tires. But then again, you probably aren't buying this to go maximum speed on pavement. Well really, you shouldn't - go hit some trails!

I'm in love.

I've been looking for an entry into gravel riding for some time, and finally found a bike that strikes the chord of budget friendly/having the bulk of features I've been looking for. I've opted in to the carbon fork (massive upgrade, would recommend) and the additional wheelset to turn this into a veritable swiss army knife of bikes. Having taken it for a couple of spins on conventional with the 700c wheelset, the ride is what you might expect from the combo of steel and carbon; smooth as silk, dipped in melted butter, listening to a Barry White album in a dark room illuminated by aromatic candles. The handling felt comfortable, responsive, and agile. I feel spoiled and I'm looking forward to putting this beast through its paces! Also! I contributed to the National Park Foundation by purchasing this beautiful machine, how cool is that??? Took for a brief spin with the 650b's to see what the swap-out was like (turned out to be effortless). I'm beyond pleased.

Great Value!

Shipping was fast and the bike performed better than expected. This bike def feels more expensive than what you're paying for. It's a little on the heavy side and the derailleur was bent on reciept (State C's remedied the situation by shipping out a new derailleur within 24 hrs of contact), but I think you're getting great bang for your buck.

I'm 5'7" and the Small fit me as I can easily switch from drops to hoods with no issues. I went with just the 650b and switched straight to the monster fork so I can't speak to how the stock fork feels

Love it!!!

I have to say, I love this ride. I own a $5000 Specialized Tarmac custom, a custom Lynskey Mountain bike, and like most of you, I've owned numerous bikes over the years. The State Joshua Tree line? I took it out for the first time last weekend. Monmouth County, NJ. It's a rail-trail that runs from Allaire State Park to Manasquan, NJ. Super easy. This ride was awesome. It's gorgeous, shifts great, rides smoothly. The mechanical brakes are ok and a little weak, but I'm not doing anything nuts, so who cares. As State says, "Explore your state." That's what it's intended for, btw. I'll say it again, "love it."

Worth It

I've been waiting for a gravel bike for a while, and the 4130 is more than I had hoped for. It's fun to ride and stable going through loose rocks and tow paths. It's got plenty of room to mount racks and cages and bags. Additionally, I'm 5'9" and am quite happy with the Small: comfortable reach and a really nice ride all around.
