Wonderful Bike, Great Customer Service!

I purchased a bike for my husband during a Black Friday sale. It was sent to the wrong side of the country, came a week late and was severely damaged to the point that the bike shop said we needed to get a new one. I contacted state bike and they had a new one sent out to me immediately. the mistake was definitely on FedEx for shipping it all around our country, but state took full responsibility and made sure I was made whole. Thanks guys! Ill be buying myself a state bike here shortly for my bday. Oh and my husband rides 14 miles a day to and from work, he loves the ride and how smooth his new commute is!

I love my bike

It’s everything I wanted. I love the color, the speed, and how light it is. So far the only thing that I had to replace was the seat because the one it came with was very uncomfortable for my behind. Overall, it’s great.

Great service, awesome bike

I got my package in Mexico right on time, in perfect conditions and ready to assemble. Thanx

Really like the bike. Super fast, easy maintenance and looks sharp. The frame did come with some minor scratches, whether this happened in transit or manafacturer default, how would I know. Important to add this for the consumer and for State to look at how they're packaging the things or how they're coming off the line. It's also important to keep in mind that's a very small detail and has no bearing on how the bike rides which is amazing! Thanks State Bicycle Company!

Size 46 is still large for 5’4 person.

I bought the 4130 bike (size 46). The website said it is for height 4’10 to 5’1 and inseam 25.5 to 27 inches. I am 5’4 , inseam 28 inches without wearing any shoes or socks. But when I stand over the bike with on shoes on , the top tube is touching between my legs. It is for inseam 28 and up. The bike is for for short people like me.
As for the quality of the bike: very damn good!!!!
The bike arrive WITHOUT any scratches or damages. The seat is very comfy and softy but gives enough support to my butt. Don’t even bother to put the stock pedals on, just throw it away. The braking power of the brake is ok if you do not ride that fast or going down hill. !! Remember to re-tight the Lock Ring. It is very loose when come from the factory!!

Sick design, fun and smooth ride.

I had the bike delivered to my LBS for assembly, and they reported no issues with the condition that bike was received. I have really enjoyed the stiff ride of the 4130 steel frame and 46x16 is a nice ratio up small hills and works well even against the wind. I have made excuses almost every other day to take it out around town. State's self-described drab green frame often elicits second looks, and its design was called sick. I am very happy with the bikes design and performance. My only minor negative is the sizing of the bike. I am a rather lanky 6'0 so thought the 59 inch would be perfect, but it actually seems slightly small, so maybe I could have sized up to the 62 -- I could've done more research on sizing myself, but it would be helpful to have more detailed sizing on the website.

Nice bike but small problems

the wheels weren't true out of the box. Also one of the bolts that fixes the seat height broke into two when I was adjusting seat heights. It's a nice, beautiful bike that rides great. I wish that they didn't cheap out on the small components like the bolts.

Great bike but had faulty brake levers

Love the bike! Great ride quality and responsiveness. However, I believe the screws for the brake levers were incorrect and that led to two stripped brake levers. Good thing my local bike shop gave me a hand and threw in a pair.

State 4130 Army green

This is my second 4130 single speed. I bought this one for the cool color. It took a couple extra days to arrive but worth the weight. The 700 x 25 gunwalls look good and measures wider because of the box rims. The extra tire width really helps on the compliance side. I'm very happy with this bike. Oh the wheels came true, that was a welcomed touch. Or maybe I just got lucky.

My New Best Ride

I haven’t ridden a bike in several years. All the other rides I had were hand-me-downs. After looking at different brands of single speed bikes online, I finally settled on this 4130. I really like the style, color, and components that come stock for the overall value. I placed my order on August 26, 2020. It shipped on September 25, 2020. I received it on October 2, 2020. I totally understood the shipping delay due to Covid-19 challenges. After I had the totally awesome guys at Valencia Cyclery in San Francisco assemble it for me, I rode it a mile or so home. I gotta say, the ride was really enjoyable. This is the lightest ride I ever owned. It’s also a plus that it’s properly sized for my 6 foot frame. Then there’s the army green color.... I love the look and the smooth ride. Each time I ride, it just gets better and better. Now I’m starting to enjoy my rides even more as I explore SF. I’m really happy with my purchase. As a special treat to myself, I did invest in a black Brooks B-17 saddle to round out the look. Good choice for a cool ride. Thanks, State. You guys treated me well with the product and the customer service interactions.

The 4130 Steel Line earned its namesake from the double-butted 4130-grade chromoly steel used on the frame and fork that maximizes strength without making compromises on weight. Internal cable routing, seat stay rack mounts, water bottle cage mounts, a flip-flop hub, and integrated chain tensioners provide versatility while maintaining the clean aesthetic State Bicycle Co. is known for. Drilled high-flange hubs, an open faceplate stem, and the CNC’d seat post clamp not only look great but also help to shave some additional weight.

The latest 4130 Steel Line models feature a subtle but stylish ‘STATE’ logo on the down tube and an updated ‘SBC’ head tube logo. Limited production runs, designer color ways not seen anywhere else, and the ability to customize your bike by selecting your handlebar style and wheel set all combine to make sure you have a bike as unique as you are.
