Put my Warhawk together last night and took it for a short spin around the block. Nice bike, seems to be spec'd with good solid parts. I like that there is enough steerer tube to experiment with bike fit. My wife was impressed with the look of it and she's not a bike person. Only thing I would like changed from the factory is to maybe include a second smaller cog in the 16 or 17 tooth range for those who want it geared closer to road speeds. Not a big deal for me, I have spares around the workbench, but if a first time singlespeed rider jumped on it they may be surprised at how spinny the stock gear is on the flats.
I bought my Warhawk after a season of racing single speed cyclocross on a converted bike and wanted a dedicated SS machine. I expected it to be a heavy, ride it hard and put it away wet alternative to my other ‘cross bikes but that wasn’t what happened.
I built it up first as a single speed training bike to get through the winter. It had fenders and lights and worked wonderfully. Here, it really shines as a do-it-all machine.
Next, I raced it in a regional gravel series. For the first race, I squeezed some 29”x1.9 tires into the frame. The clearance is PHENOMENAL in the front... probably not recommended in the rear... but, aside from some toe overlap, it rode spectacularly. With 700x40mm tires clearance was never an issue and the ride was smooth like jazz.
Built up as a dedicated cyclocross racer in the fall, I put on SRAM Force cranks with a Stages powermeter, ceramic BB, aluminum tubular wheels, FSA bars, Thompson seatpost, and TRP brakes. The Warhawk can go toe to toe with any other single speed on the market. Built up for race season, the ~19 lbs bike was just as light as my aluminum geared bike, but at a fraction of the cost.
In retrospect, I likely should have gone one size up from my 52 but that’s due to years of my on own poor self-fit and judgement and no fault of the bike. I definitely recommend paying attention to the ETT when you order, though, as the 52 has a 54.5 top tube (my other bikes are listed as 54s with the same TT length). When I switched to a V brake in the rear, I had to zip tie the cantilever cable stop that’s built into the seatpost clamp, easily replaced but I’m lazy.
We have a lot of rail to trail’s and single tracks it’s done well on all accounts. It arrived in good shape no scratches or damage Some minor adjustments on the brakes and I was good to go
Minus a few issues (broken spoke, tire went flat my second ride) I am very happy with my bike. I realize that shipping is difficult, leaving it open to things going wrong and these two were very easy fixes!!!.
Rides very well ! & not as heavy as expected ! Great bike for a fair price
Great product! Great service!
When I got the bike the wheels were crooked and rubbed against the frame, and the tires were not seated properly. I took it to my local bike shop and they were able to fix it easily, and I have loved riding it since.
I honestly can't believe how good this bike is for what I paid for it. I needed an inexpensive bike to start me off on the SS CX circuit, and this bike is going to fulfill that role perfectly.
The bike looks cool and it's low profile (not a lot of branding or colors that stand out) so I can lock it up. It's exactly the type of bike I was looking for.
I bought this bike about 3 weeks ago as an early birthday present for myself and I can't get enough of it. I've never had so much fun riding a bike before. A solid investment for sure!
