The bike that started it all

I bought this bike because I wanted something solid and reliable for a decent price. What I go was way more than I could have imagined! I have owned this bike for a year now and have over 3,400 miles on it. From commuting, to workout rides, to doing my first century. If you are looking at getting into single speed/fixed riding or just want a solid set up to get you back and forth, this monster will do it with a smile on its face for a price that fits with ANY BUDGET! I can't say enough about how much I love this thing. You will not be sorry, the only regret you will have is that you didn't buy two. ***I have updated the front fork, wheels, and cranks over the past year, but don't let that be a deterrent. Those upgrades were WANTS, not NEEDS***

This is a great bike.

I probably have low standards. This is the first time I've purchased a new bike that wasn't a Wal-mart or Academy special, and my last bike was a hand-me-down from my brother-in-law who is shorter than me. I had the seat on that thing set as high as it would go and my knees were still half bent at the end of each down stroke. Anyways, I probably have low standards.

When that other bike was stolen off my back porch (no thanks to my dog Sydney, the friendliest guard dog ever), I decided to actually give some thought to the kind of bike I wanted. I didn't want anything too expensive. I didn't want anything too complicated. And I didn't want something I would regret riding to work everyday.

This bike does all of that and more. It's a joy to ride. I feel good riding it, and for someone who hasn't done much riding, that's about the best thing I can ask for.

I guess my main complaint is that because I'm fat, anytime I'm riding against the wind I feel like the world is trying to kill me. But that's not really a complaint about the bike. So there you go.

Great bike, everything you’d want from a steel bike

Very impressed with the entire State Bike process. The shipping was much faster than I anticipated, the bike came without a scratch, easy to assemble and the price is on point. I put wider bars on and an 18 tooth on the back, (I live around hills, but want to ride flats too). The general componentry on the bike is awesome, can’t believe I got this for only $299, totally stoked.

Looks good, grip tip

State did not have the color I initially ordered, but called to switch to Pigeon which looks good, and they threw in a nice back pack. My dad is more handy than me and is a bike enthusiast so he assembled it - a bit tougher/longer than expected but got through it. The handlebar grips were way too tight to go on, so he put them in some boiling water which loosened them up to put on. A little surprised that my foot can hit the front tire when I turn, so I have to be careful and time that. It's a work out going up hills but still good.

Great bike, even greater value. Just needs a few upgrades to be perfect

This bike is a steal for less than 300 bucks. Perfectly capable ride straight out the box for commuters and hobbyists. Pretty much all the core, expensive components punch way above their weight class for what you pay. I just tossed the free plastic pedals aside and threaded on some big aluminum Crank Bros platforms, tossed aside the generic seat for a Brooks Ceribum saddle, trimmed down the bars and bolted up some hub guards, aluminum BMX levers/bar ends/pegs for flatland tricks and light grinds. So I'm still at like $550 for the whole rig and I love it twice as much as my $1000 LeMond setup. The modified Pigeon looks way cooler too if that counts for anything...

Great Pigeon!

Fast delivery, arrived in immaculate condition. Light, fast, efficient, beautiful bike. Enjoying the ride every single time as much as I enjoy the looks of it. After 5 months and about 1,500 commuting miles no issues whatsoever.

Now, bringing this up for State's & prospective buyers' notice: brake tracks in rims appear black in photos and were delivered as such. After two weeks or so, some rain and some braking (never used the bike as a fixie), the black wore off and the tracks turned silver. Knowing about this before buying the bike wouldn't be a dealbreaker, just saying all customers deserve to know exactly what they're buying. And in my case it was a light grey/black Pigeon with nice red hubs which turned out having a touch of silver as well :)

Anyway, this incident cannot affect the overall great experience I've had so far, Pigeon Core-Line definitely and highly recommended!

Birthday bike

The Core Line is the perfect bike for my son who will enjoy riding between his dorm and class buildings at college. I wanted a solid bike stripped down to essentials that would be a trustworthy and dependable model. The Core Line fits that description perfectly

A Great Commuter

I was looking for a bike to get me to and from work (1.25 miles each way). The Core-Line definitely got me more than I bargained for. A solid bike that is representative of something well above its price point. I am astounded at the deal I got and the performance of this bike. I would definitely recommend the Core-Line to someone looking for a simple, single-speed machine.

The bike came extremely well packaged (ignore the YouTube videos that say otherwise, they are outdated) and mostly assembled. Assembly was complete in about an hour with standard bike tools. Not bad.

Good bike odd policies

I like the bike but if I don't pay extra for assembly I don't get a warranty?
