Euphoria!!!

This is my third State Bicycle bike and I have loved every one of them. I have been wanting an eBike for a while now so I could pull my daughter in her little trailer, but I didn’t feel confident about just any brand of bike. When I saw that State Bicycle Co. was releasing their first ever eBike, I was elated! Since I have never owned nor ridden an eBike before, I was worried that I wouldn’t like it, but I was VERY wrong. I love everything about this bike! It makes pulling 60 lbs of toddler+Frenchie+trailer so much easier, especially on sneaky inclines. I am so thankful I bought this bike because now I can include my daughter in what I love doing most.

First ebike.

I did my homework before purchasing and it's everything I was wanting. Very stealth and I now have the ability to get up hills much easier. I ride to work and allows me to get there without over doing it. Very fun bike to ride.

Excellent Ride and Range

This might be my favorite bike now, and I have a garage full; I waited to review until I had several hundred miles on it, and I've enjoyed every one of those miles. Most of my rides are in the 20-25 mile range and the battery still has 70% when I'm done. The saddle isn't half bad; it reminds me of the 70s saddles and breaks in nicely. The display is bright and readable in the sun (I can't get it off kmh, though...not a big deal) and matches up with my Garmin in terms of distance. My only complaint is that I would like a throttle--it's not really necessary, but I'm older and when I'm 15 miles from home and just kinda spent, it would be nice to have. So far, it's been worth every penny.

Great commuter e-bike with amazing design

The SBC 6061 commuter ebike has a great design. It is one of the best designed ebikes out there. It is my first ebike and has made my hilly 16-mile commute something I can now do every day rather than just once a week. Since I have ridden bikes for over 40 years, it took a little getting used the best pedaling style to take advantage of the motor, but it has worked out well. The battery life is pretty good for its small size. If I use the manual setting I have 75% battery left after a very hilly 16 miles. If I use the auto setting then I have 50% battery life left, which is still pretty good.

The only criticisms I have is that the seat is pretty basic and not comfortable for long rides. I wish they offered the option to upgrade the seat when you purchase it. Also, the paper owner's manual that came with it does not have correct information (says 9 shift levels instead of 5, has wrong location for the bike's serial number and the computer menu settings are not labeled). It's best to use the online version of the owner's manual. Finally, I really wish SBC would sell the battery charger on their parts website since it would be nice to keep one at work when I do longer rides.

Great starter ebike

The State eCommuter is a great starter ebike. It performs as described. It has mounts for a rack and fenders so you can turn it into a daily commuter. The backlit colorful display is a fantastic feature. The gear ratio works well when the motor is off and I can easily keep up with group rides. The battery life is nice. I did a 25 mile ride with level 3 and 4 assist and still had 64% battery remaining

The front end rattles when going over bumps but after installing an Ortlieb handlebar bag it stopped rattling so much. In manual mode, the PAS isn't as responsive and I often have to feather the brakes, or change the PAS level for it to kick back in. I lost the battery port cover on my first ride.

All-in-all I'm very happy with my purchase and I plan to use this bike every day to get to and from work

Liked son’s so much, bought a second!

We purchased this e-bike for our soon-to-be-employed teenage son to ride to work. A mile of formidable hills separate said teenager from future job site, and he needed a bike that was relatively inexpensive and “luggable” up a few stairs. We tested many options, but most highly rated E-bikes exceed 50 pounds and are really expensive. Found this at a local adventure outfitter and it seemed to fit our needs. My son is 6ft tall and prefers a more upright position, so we bought the medium frame. The bike currently weighs 41 pounds with rear seat-clamp rack. Brakes needed significant tuning, and the shop finally decided just to swap out the pads because the bike sounded like a city garbage truck braking. The entire family has “borrowed” the bike for local errands, coffee rides, etc so much that we helped our youngest buy one. He rides the small frame (he’s about 5 feet tall) and uses a flying-mount to get on the bike. He can stand over it in shoes, but just barely, and will hopefully grow into the bike provided it survives his ninja-warrior lifestyle. I will post an update in the coming year on durability.
We would recommend getting a rear rack for your bike lock because who wants to lose a $1300 bike? Found a cheap seatpost clamp style for older, but younger doesn’t have any space on his post-it’s sitting in the lowest possible position. Struggled to find rear rack that was short enough to clear rear tire but not impinge on seat. Will be installing Transit Wing rear rack with modifications to accommodate lower seat height. We also recommend swapping in a quick-release seatpost clamp as the bike is shareable with just about anyone. Riding our hilly neighborhood is enjoyable again….as long as you get on the e-bike first!

Fast & Easy

This bike rides like a dream. Gets up to speed quickly even going up a hill and since it's a single speed it requires no shifting and less maintenance. It looks like a regular bicycle which is nice. Highly recommended!

Extremely satisfied!

Had to leave this review to state how amazing this e bike really is. If you’re looking for something where you can stay engaged then this is the bike for you. With no throttle and assist pedal only you really do get that natural feeling of assistance when you need to get wherever you need to go. My first ride was 17 miles home and everything was an amazing, the ride is ultra smooth and love everything about it.

The temperature just dropped but it's nowhere as cold as it gets for the winter but like all the batteries the cold seems to drain the battery faster than usual. Overall great, fun ride that I'm sure will only get better with the 2nd version that comes out later
