I'm the coolest kid on the block and I'm 34 years old.

The bike came in a very well packaged box. Only a small scuff on a spoke which I'm sure was due to the shipping company treating all boxes like Ace Ventura does. Otherwise there is a great deal of well thought out pieces of plastic, cardboard covers and rubber bumpers so that the bike sits safely in the box. The bike was very easy to build as it ships mostly built already. The toughest part was just flipping the rear wheel as I prefer to ride freewheel. The only reason it proved a bit difficult was that I underestimated my strength when I pulled the rear wheel off and ended up punching myself in the chin. That's not State's fault though, we can blame that on my high strength to weight ratio on my 5'3" frame.(lucky for me that they have a 46cm frame) When you're first looking at the bike when putting it together you can tell that they do provide quality components for a bike in this price range. The paint job is top notch and everything just looks NICE. After setup I took it for my first ride. What a difference from my first fixie that I bought from that site named after a familiar jungle. The ride is great & the steering is so responsive in comparison to my previous bike. Very little input = almost mind reading steering. So that will take some getting used to for me. I didn't want to fall after punching myself in the chin earlier in the day, so I kept my first ride short. The colorway on the bike is just great. Had a few people asking me what kind of bike it was once I posted it on social media. They could have read the @ mention I made of StateBicycle Co., but my friends are lazy so I just told them directly. I look forward to many years on this thing as I was able to accumulate over 7,500 miles on my other old rusty buddy. Great job guys!

So, this will be the 4th State 4130 that I have put together for myself or for family members. This one went together just as smooth as all the other ones. The black and white is striking! My daughter loves it! These core line bikes are by far the best value in the single world... hands down.

Its exactly what its called, a trooper.

I have a solid year on the model now and i have nothing bad to say. It stands out (which we all want of course), is easliy upgraded, lighter than she looks, and will stand the test of time even if some scumbag steals it and you track him down at a 7/11 at 2 a.m a month later..... (sorry small rant) My first fixed bike and i couldnt be more stoked, especially with how helpful all of the state staff is! From online to the rideshop! Thanks guys!

The process of getting a new fixie thru State was stress free. My new Trooper 4.0 was assembled well and it even had that new bike smell. All the parts was of highest quality and the bike was so light, I love it! It was everything I wanted! Thanks, State for making me a believer that what you still see on the Internet can be for real.

    Bike was damaged

I received the bike with various dents and scratches, and all I was given in return was a measly 35 dollar gift certificate to spend at State Bicycle Co. The damages easily cost over a 100$ to have fixed, and this was a huge let down, especially when state supposedly has a reputation as being super great customer service.

    Freedom found

Just got my Trooper 4.0 assembled by my friends at Alameda Bycicle and in an instant I knew it was one of the best days of my life. The precision of each piece put together made sense on what it was meant for: Freedom to ride. Me and my 11 year old son (hashed out his BMX) and took the Trooper 4.0 for a spin. The bike handled smoothly on pavement and even on gravel and moderate sand( we live close to the Beach) the tires adapt to the changing pace. I used to ride a Schwinn cruiser and believe me, because of the lighter frame and dynamics of the crank set up, I was riding faster, smoother and more agile. I love my new bike, I now have the freedom to take it onboard public transportation like BART, and can get up and go anywhere. The only thing I need to do now is get used to the seat, which was narrow ( parts of my fat ass cheeks were looking for relief) but I get it, this is not a cruiser, it's a mean machine that will whip me into shape. The looks I get from bystanders is priceless. Thank you State for creating a bike that opens up all the opportunities to RIDE!

    Great for the price

I needed an inexpensive bike quick after my last one got stolen. This beautiful bike fit my needs. I'm 6'2", 200lbs and I had total confidence this thing would hold me. A few things to to watch out for: -The pedals are pretty cheap and will need to be replaced. The bearings in mine started to go after 2 weeks of daily riding. -The white paint picks up marks very easily. If you plan on locking it up to street signs or something you should find a way to protect the barks. I've found that 3M makes a thick clear sheet you can cut to size and protects well. -The spokes are tensioned with tiny screws. Make sure they're tight. If one comes loose it will fall into the rim and you'll have to take the whole thing apart to get it and stop the rattle.

    State Bikes are Top Notch

Trooper core line single is so sweet - owned multiples single speed bikes and for the price the quality is outstanding. zero flex, no issues, super smooth

    Trooper 4.0 - didn't find anything comparable

Everything arrived just as advertised and was easily assembled. The ride handling are great... and it looks terrific.
