The State Bicycle Co. Contender is the “step-up” from our core line models; we would call it a “leap-up”, but nobody says that…

It features the same frame as our core line models -- a 4130 chromoly steel frame -- but is upgraded with a carbon fiber fork with aluminum steer tube, for decreased weight and improved handling. The crank has been upgraded as well, to a SRAM S100 track crank, with Truvativ Powerspline bottom bracket. The key technology behind the Truvativ Powerspline is the “splined” area; instead of the commonly found square-taper set-up, the Powerspline has teeth that fit precisely with the SRAM S100 crank, for faster response at the pedals.

The wheels of the Contender show off with a smooth, sealed bearing hub to maximize momentum and protection from dirt and grit. The frameset is tied together with a sealed bearing FSA MX Orbit headset for the smoothest steering possible. The final upgrade on the Contender is the aerodynamic “race saddle” upgrade from the core model.

One of the best selling State Bicycle Co. models in history, now available in 4 colorways: Original Silver, Matte Red, Neon Green, and Sultan Gold. If you’re looking to step-up from a core-line model or another brand of all-steel fixed-gear/single speed, so you don’t miss that green light ever again, step-up to the Contender.

[FAQs]
[Q] Do the bicycles come assembled?
[A] The bicycle will ship “90% assembled”, which means you will need to attach the handlebars, saddle, pedals, front wheels, and a few other minor parts, as well as adjusting, tightening, and tuning. It is possible to build with moderate knowledge of bicycles, however, State Bicycle Co. highly encourages all bicycles to be built by a professional. The bicycle will be safer and will ride drastically better when assembled and tuned properly – in other words, don’t just “throw it together”. It is also possible to ship your order directly to a bicycle shop for assembly.
