4130 All-Road - Flat Bar - Black Stone (10 Speed / UDH)
CHROME, STEEL, AND 2.1 INCHES OF KNOBBY
Flat bars, fat knobbies, and a full chrome finishing kit.
The 4130 All-Road Flat Bar is the simple one. Steel frame, upright bars, 650b wheels on 2.1" Vittoria Barzo tires, and a MicroShift 1x10 drivetrain with nothing to charge and nothing to pair.
450mm chainstays, a slack front end, and a low bottom bracket make it calm on loose ground instead of twitchy. Completely external routing keeps every cable where you can see it, adjust it, and replace it. Room for 2.4" on 650b or 2.25" on 700c when you want more.

Flat bars, fat knobbies, and a full chrome finishing kit.
The 4130 All-Road Flat Bar is the simple one. Double-butted 4130 chromoly frame, upright bars, 650b wheels on 2.1" Vittoria Barzo tires, and a 10-speed drivetrain with nothing to charge and nothing to pair.
It looks like the mountain bikes people actually want to be riding again — chrome cockpit, steel tubes, big rubber — and it's built to a spec that keeps the price where it belongs.
Double-butted means the tube walls are thicker at the ends, where they're welded and where stress concentrates, and thinner through the middle, where they don't need to be. You get the strength where it matters and shed weight everywhere else — which is what separates a good steel frame from a heavy one.
Simple on purpose
Every decision on this bike went the same direction: fewer things to go wrong, fewer things to pay for.
Completely external cable routing. No fishing housing through a frame, no internal guides to rattle, no removing a bottom bracket to chase a cable. Every line is right there where you can see it, adjust it, and replace it. It's the difference between a twenty-minute job and an afternoon.
68mm BSA threaded bottom bracket, square taper cranks, 27.2mm seatpost, 31.8mm bar clamp. Standards with decades of parts behind them, available anywhere, serviceable by anyone.
Long, low, and slack
Long chainstays, a slack front end, and a low bottom bracket. Every number here is doing the same job.
- 450mm chainstays across every size. Long rear center puts your weight further forward between the wheels, which means the bike tracks straight on loose surfaces and stays planted when it's loaded with bags.
- 70.5° to 71.5° head angle. Slack by gravel standards. The front wheel leads rather than darts, so washboard and gravel don't push the bars around.
- 75mm bottom bracket drop. Low. Your weight sits below the axles, which is what makes a bike feel confident in corners and on off-camber dirt.
- 50mm fork offset across every size — paired with a head angle that steepens slightly as the frame grows, so the smaller sizes carry a little more trail to stay calm and the larger ones a little less to stay lively.
The result is a bike that's calm. It won't feel twitchy on a fire road descent, it won't wander when you're riding no-handed, and it won't fight you when the surface changes under you mid-corner.
Flat bars change the bike
630mm wide with 25mm of rise, on a 31.8mm clamp.
Wide bars give you leverage — more control over the front wheel on loose ground, and more confidence when the surface gets rough. The rise brings your hands up, which opens your back angle and takes weight off your wrists on a long day.
And you can see. An upright position on a bike you're riding through traffic, on a canal path, or down a dirt road you've never been on is worth more than the aerodynamics you're giving up.
650b x 2.1", and room for more
Every build ships on 650b wheels with Vittoria Barzo 2.1" knobby tires — real off-road tread on real volume, at pressures low enough to take the edge off anything.
The frame has room well beyond that:
- Up to 2.4" (60mm)
- Ships with 2.1" Barzo
- More volume, more grip, more cushion
- Up to 2.25" (57mm)
- Faster rolling for pavement and hardpack
- Requires a separate wheelset
That's genuine mountain bike clearance on a steel gravel frame. Run the Barzos for dirt, or build a 700c wheelset with something fast for commuting and have two bikes.
10-speed, and it's enough
A MicroShift Advent X 1x10 drivetrain with an 11–46T cassette and a 40T narrow-wide chainring up front.
Advent X was designed for exactly this kind of bike — a wide-range 1x that's built tough, shifts under load, and costs a fraction of what a 12-speed does to replace when the cassette wears out. The clutch keeps the chain quiet on rough ground, and the narrow-wide ring holds it on without a guide.
418% of range from an 11–46 means a climbing gear for loaded dirt and enough at the top for a fast flat section. More speeds would give you smaller steps between gears. They wouldn't give you more range, and they'd cost more every time you replaced a chain.
UDH
Universal Derailleur Hanger, so a replacement is available at virtually any shop anywhere in the world. No proprietary part to track down after a crash on a trip, and a clear path to modern drivetrains if you ever want to change direction.
Hydraulic disc brakes
Flat mount hydraulic discs with 160mm rotors front and rear. Not cable-actuated — proper sealed hydraulics, which on a bike carrying weight down a loose descent is the difference between modulating and hoping.
Thru-axles front and rear: 12x100mm and 12x142mm, with sealed bearing hubs.
Size Recommendations
| Size | Height Range |
|---|---|
| XS | 5'1" – 5'6" |
| S | 5'6" – 6'1" |
| M | 5'9" – 6'2" |
| L | 6'1" – 6'6" |
Sizes overlap on purpose. If you fall between two, the smaller size gives a more nimble, upright fit and the larger one stretches you out. Full numbers — reach, stack, standover, and wheelbase for every size — are on our geometry chart.

FAQ
Rider-owned in Phoenix, AZ since 2009. 5-year frame warranty on steel, aluminum & titanium · most in-stock bikes ship in 1 business day · 4.8/5 from 16,000+ reviews.
How does my bike show up, and do I need a shop?
That depends on how you order it:
- With Pro-Build (select models: $79.99, or $129.99 on Carbon Road). Our mechanics in Phoenix face the frame, set up and bleed the hydraulic brakes, index the drivetrain, cut the steerer to our stock length and torque-check everything before it goes in the box. That's the shop work that usually runs $150–$300 locally. You bolt on the bars, seatpost, front wheel and pedals, set your hoods and wrap your tape: about 20–30 minutes with a hex set and a torque wrench. Pro-Build adds a 1–2 week build queue.
- Without Pro-Build. Your bike ships mostly assembled, but it needs a full assembly and tune by a professional mechanic before it's ride-ready. Carbon, titanium and AXS builds that skip Pro-Build arrive unassembled with an uncut steerer, so your shop can build them to your exact fit.
Either way, a professional build is safer, rides better, and unlocks our better warranty tier (see below).
What does the warranty cover?
Every State bike comes with our Standard Limited Warranty against manufacturing defects for the original owner. No registration required.
- Steel, aluminum & titanium frames and forks: 5 years
- Carbon frames and forks: 1 year (2 years with ProBuild Advantage)
- Non-consumable parts (cranks, wheels, hubs, bars, stem, seatpost, pedals): 1 year
Not covered: wear items (tires, tubes, chains, brake pads, grips, bar tape, saddles, spokes, paint), rust on RAW finishes, crash damage, and labor or shipping costs. Full warranty details
What is ProBuild Advantage, and how do I get it?
It's our "you did it right" warranty tier for bikes that were professionally assembled and registered within 30 days of delivery. You get everything in the Standard warranty, plus:
- 2 years on carbon frames and forks, instead of 1
- Priority claim review: ProBuild claims go to the front of the line
- Faster help with shifting or braking issues, without the "did you tighten that bolt?" back-and-forth
- Shipping perks on approved warranty replacement parts
- Discounted pricing on a replacement frame or bike for up to 5 years from delivery, if a crash wins
To activate it: add Pro-Build when you order, or have a local shop assemble your bike and keep the receipt. Then register your bike within 30 days of delivery with your serial number (engraved under the bottom bracket shell) and proof of assembly. If you ordered Pro-Build, our mechanics already did the build. You just register.
When will my bike ship?
Most in-stock bikes ship within 1 business day, and you'll get tracking as soon as yours is on its way. Adding Pro-Build puts your bike in our build queue for 1–2 weeks before it ships. Shipping is calculated at checkout from your location and the size of your order, and bikes go out by UPS or FedEx Ground.
Outside the U.S.? We ship worldwide, and duties and taxes are paid at checkout, so nothing is due on delivery. Shipping policy
What if it's not right? Returns & exchanges
You have 30 days from delivery to request a return or exchange. Bikes need to be unused, in like-new condition and in their original packaging.
- Refunds: a return label fee is deducted ($45 for complete bikes), and original shipping isn't refundable.
- Exchanges: issued as store credit. The return label fee applies here too.
- Package Protection Plan (add it at checkout): covers loss and damage in transit, removes return label fees and deductions, and extends the window for exchanges and store credit to 60 days. Refunds stay at 30 days.
Pro-Build and other service work can't be refunded once it's done. Final sale, clearance and limited-run items can't be returned, and neither can international orders.
Can I pay over time, or use HSA/FSA funds?
Yes. Financing with Bread Pay splits your bike into monthly payments, and you can pay it off early with no penalty (subject to credit approval). You may also be able to use pre-tax HSA/FSA dollars through Truemed. A short intake at checkout checks your eligibility, which depends on your plan. HSA/FSA guide
Which size do I need?
Geometry charts, size guides and full build specs for every model are on our Size Charts & Specs page. Between sizes, or running a tall stack or long stem? Get in touch before you order. Pro-Build cuts the steerer to our stock length, and that can't be undone.
Can I see one in person or get it built locally?
Use our dealer & shop locator to find a shop near you for a look in person, assembly or a tune-up.
