CST Metropolitan Escape City / Road Tire - 700 x 38c

The tire your bike came with. The CST Metropolitan Escape in 700 x 38c is the stock tire on our 4130 Fixed Gear and 4130 Road builds. If you have worn one out and want to put the bike back exactly how it left us, this is the one.

38c, which is the useful part

A 38mm casing is wide enough to run lower pressure and let the tire absorb the road instead of transmitting it — broken pavement, expansion joints, the seam where the bike lane meets the gutter. It is the width that makes a steel road bike comfortable over a long day without turning it into something slow.

The tread is built for pavement first: a smooth center that rolls quietly and holds speed, with texture toward the shoulder for grip when the road is wet or when you cut across hardpack to get home.

Two sidewalls

Black on black disappears into the bike and keeps a dark build looking deliberate. Black with a tan sidewall is the classic look — warmer, more traditional, and the easiest way to make a frame look like it has been somewhere.

Same tire, same casing, same size. The sidewall is the only difference.

Fitment

Fits any 700c wheel with clearance for a 38mm tire, including our 4130 Fixed Gear, 4130 Road and 4130 All-Road frames. Check your own frame and fork clearance before ordering if you are fitting it to something else — clearance varies with rim width and brake type.

Specifications

Tubes are sold separately. This tire is designed to run with a tube.
