Monday Motivation with Eduardo López

Hi! I’m Eduardo López,  I’m a graphic designer from Torreón, Coahuila México, my work has been featured in some magazines here in Mexico and in a book from Germany called Worldwide graphic design Latin America from Zeixs books.

I work in my office/studio called The Print Shop and I have a great team always working by my side. I started design when I was 16 years old (I’m 28 right now) so it has been a long, fun and great journey.  I don’t have a particular style for design or illustration. But the process is always the same, I start with some sketches with pencil, then I work it on my computer.

When I was 22, I was diagnosed with cancer, during that time I was looking for other people that have had the same illness as me. I found a cyclist  who have had the same disease and I felt inspired by his story. After some time and treatment I started to ride an old mtb bike, and later I saw a Fixie bike on the street and it was love at first sight. I like to ride because for me it’s a good opportunity to feel alive, it’s great to be healthy and catch some red lights with my track bike because I want it, not because a disease make me stop.

I’m not the best rider in town but the challenge is always with my self, and every mille or hill I ride it’s a reminder that I’m winning.  My favorite bike is my State Undefeated 2014, but now I have some room for my new Thunderbird CX. Right now I’m getting deeper in MTB bikes so I’m thinking about a State Pulsar for the future.

Monday Motivation series was a great opportunity for me in order to experiment with new things like materials, photos and brushes. It’s like a dream come true to work with bikes and design at the same time , so I have to say thanks to Mehdi and all the staff from State Bicycle and Co.
