Addison Zawada, determined and talented fixed gear cyclist, has been on a month-long cross-country journey from Chicago, heading to Los Angeles via the historic U.S. Highway 66, to see forgotten America on a bicycle. His adventure began on October 23, 2015 when he departed on his bicycle with a bike trailer and two friends. It will end this Sunday, December 6, when he finishes his journey in Los Angeles having traveled 2,451 miles.
Tell us more about the bike you're riding.'State Bikes prepared a bike that fits what I'm doing [for this project], but will also be useful on a daily basis when I get home. Basically, I decided to pick a cyclocross race bike, which is essentially an offroad road bike with knobby tires, with disc brakes. The stopping power is more dependable — for the extra 100 pounds of weight I'm carrying right now. Plus, the geometry puts me in position so I can ride for 45 days straight and still be comfortable.'

MELBOURNE, Australia (BRAIN) — Singlespeed and fixed-gear brand State Bicycle Co. has begun direct distribution in Australia, speeding delivery to customers there without international shipping fees.
Three graduate students from ASU have come together to launch a program that will hopefully lower the percentage of bike thefts, but also offer the victims a compensation for their loss.
“Having a bike stolen can be very detrimental and a set back,” Farsi said. “So in order for us to help people out when something bad happens to them, we have a $100 off bike purchase if your bike gets stolen. In order to redeem, you have to show a police report from the last 90 days, it can be any stolen bike not just one of ours. If any bike is stolen, we will gladly give a discount off the next bike.”
