Clean Slate

I purchased this frames to create my own version of the State Klunker. I’ve been slowly building it up as a 26” wheel setup. Thinking I like the geometry with the smaller 26” wheels. Anyway I like the freedom of using the frame as a clean slate. At the present I’m building it as a SS. Lots of other potential.

How do make a silly bike even sillier?

This started out as a silly idea. 120mm rear spacing? That’s track wheel spacing. Not really a coaster guy. Naturally, i buy the frameset (which came with a mangled headset. State replaced it quickly and free-ly. A+)

Anyway… in the meantime i picked up a 135mm mtb disc fixed wheel. So naturally the first thing i did was space it to 135. Warranty = void. But the next step is a buddy adding disc tabs to it, so the warranty isn’t high up on my priority list). The idea was a SS/fixed 27.5” fairly fat tire bike. The 2.2 race kings fit great.

But then i got to thinking. You know what else clears? 29 x 2.1” tires… so that’s how it is now. Fixed gear. No brakes. 29”. Honestly? This doesn’t really get a ton of miles. The odd light duty trail rip. A short ride the kids to the gas station. And you know what? It’s super fun like this. It feels like a giant monocog. All things considered, it isn’t even really all that heavy. Just a cheap, simple, hell of a good time.

Klunker frame

I recently purchased the klunker frame. With the fast shipping I received it in a few days. The frame looks great and very well built. I’m not building a klunker but a cruiser. This frame I’ll have for a very long time. You can tell it will last. The price is nice you get a lot of quality for the money.

DON’T FOGET THE BOTTLE OPENER

A excellent frame to build on. Some reasons why as follows. First it has the timeless style of the old classic Schwinn of 1938 how ever this frame is far superior in strength and much more stiff which transfers more acceleration and energy to the wheels. Second this frame sports the crank bracket with a bit of a drop that gives a lower center of gravity which give the bike excellent cornering over currant modern production bikes but still has good ground clearance do to accepting the taller27.5 wheels over the old Schwinn limited to the 26”. Third the welds are nice and the paint quality on my four builds are excellent also. The fourth reason is the frame and fork set red illy accepts a set of 2.50 width tires with no clearance issues as can be seen on this example here. Running the big 250’s gives the build not only a smoother ride in the rough but protects the wheels and keeps them true. Shown here in the photo’s is one example. So if your lookin to build a head turning classic hot rod old style very capable do all ride this offered frame set is hands down a deal at 199 plus tax and shipping. However don’t forget the bottle opener on your build if you choose to do so as that is the most important part of the Klunker bike.
