Wireless droppers have existed for a few years. The problem was never whether they worked — it was that they cost as much as a decent used bike. The Seekrun S7 lands at a price where cutting the cable stops being a luxury upgrade and starts being a normal one.

No cable. No housing. No fishing a line through your down tube. Mount the post, clamp the remote to your bar, pair them, ride.

New to wireless? Here's what actually changes.

Installation goes from an afternoon to about fifteen minutes. A cable-actuated dropper means routing housing through the frame, cutting it to length, setting cable tension, and re-doing it if you get it wrong. Wireless skips all of it. Slide the post in, torque the collar, clamp the remote, done.

Nothing to stretch, kink, or gum up. Most "my dropper feels sluggish" complaints trace back to cable and housing, not the post. Contaminated housing, a stretched cable, a tight bend behind the head tube. Remove the cable and you remove that entire failure mode.

Swapping bikes gets easy. The post pulls out and drops into another 31.6mm frame in minutes. Same for packing a bike into a travel case — no cable to disconnect and re-tension on the other end.

The remote is a button, not a lever. Shorter throw than a mechanical lever, with a large, easy-to-find pad. It mounts on a SRAM MatchMaker-pattern clamp.

Who is Seekrun?

Fair question for a brand you haven't seen before. Seekrun is a product line from Higo, an electronics manufacturer that has spent roughly two decades building control systems, connectors, and wiring for the e-bike industry. If you've ridden an e-bike, there's a reasonable chance you've used their hardware without knowing it.

That matters here because the hard part of a wireless dropper isn't the seatpost — it's the electronics, the sealing, and the battery management. Seekrun is not a startup learning that on your bike.

Built to be fixed, not replaced

This is what separates the S7 from the rest of the wireless category, and it's the reason it's on our site.

Electronic bike parts have a disposability problem. When a sealed-unit post fails outside warranty, you often buy a new one. The S7 is built the other way around. The cartridge comes out in three steps with a 10mm socket — loosen the lower end cap, unscrew the mid-cap and slide the lower tube off, pull the cartridge. No bleeding, no proprietary tools, no shop-only procedure.

Seekrun sells individual replacement parts down to the motor unit and the circuit board, and commits to supporting service parts for at least five years after the S7's production run ends. Break something in a crash and you replace the part, not the post.

Sizing — read this before you order

Dropper fit is not about your height. It comes down to one measurement on your bike.

Measure your exposed length: with your saddle at your normal pedaling height, measure from the top of your seat collar to the top of your seatpost head (where the saddle clamps). That number has to fall inside the range below for the travel you want.

If your measurement is below the minimum, the post is too tall for your bike — even slammed all the way down, your saddle will sit higher than it should. Size down in travel. If it's above the maximum, the post won't come up high enough to pedal efficiently. Size up.

Also check your seat tube depth. Drop a tape measure into your seat tube and find where it stops — a bottle cage boss, a bend, or the bottom bracket shell. That unobstructed depth has to be at least the minimum insertion figure above. Most modern frames clear this easily, but frames with a bottle mount inside the seat tube are worth checking.

Rule of thumb: take the most travel your exposed length allows. More drop is better on descents, and there's no downside to a longer post that still fits.

These are starting points, not guarantees — saddle height varies a lot between riders on the same frame. Take the measurement above before you order.

One clearance check: the S7 carries its battery and electronics at the top of the post rather than at the seat collar, so it sits taller than a mechanical post. On frames with a short seat tube and a tight rear triangle, check tire-to-battery clearance with the post fully dropped and the suspension compressed.

Battery & charging

Roughly 9,000 drops per charge. The 400mAh post battery is rated for about 9,000 full up-and-down cycles on a full charge. If you drop your post 30 times a ride, that's around 300 rides. For most riders this is a "charge it a couple times a season" component, not a nightly ritual.

1.5 hours to full. Pop the battery onto the included dock and it's done inside a movie.

The remote lasts far longer. Its CR2032 coin cell is rated for around 120,000 presses. A spare is in the box, and replacements are available at any drugstore.

Double-click to wake. The post sleeps to conserve power. If it doesn't respond on the first press after sitting, double-click the remote — it's asleep, not dead.

Cold weather: rated for operation down to -10°C / 14°F.

FAQ

My post won't respond. Is it broken?
Double-click the remote. The S7 sleeps to save battery and wakes on a double press.

What happens if the battery dies on the trail?
The post stays where it is until you can charge it — it won't move on its own. Charge before a big day, and carry a spare if you're going long. Batteries swap in seconds.

Can someone else's remote trigger my post?
No. The remote pairs to one post and only talks to that post.

Is there an app?
No. The S7 works directly with its remote — no app, no phone, no account, no setup beyond pairing.

Can I adjust return speed?
No. The S7 has one fixed return speed. It's quick — quicker than most mechanical posts.

How adjustable is the remote position?
The clamp slides along the bar and uses the SRAM MatchMaker pattern, but the paddle angle itself is fixed. Take a minute during install to find the spot that works with your thumb position rather than assuming you'll fine-tune it later.

Can I move it between bikes?
Yes, as long as both frames take a 31.6mm post and have the exposed length for it. This is one of the genuine advantages of going wireless.

Can I pressure wash my bike?
IP67 covers rain, mud, dust, and immersion — but as with any sealed component, don't aim a pressure washer directly at the seat collar or the battery interface.

Can I service it myself?
Yes, and that's the point. Cartridge replacement takes a 10mm socket and about three steps. Individual replacement parts are available from Seekrun, including the motor and circuit board.
