State Bicycle Co. - Hemp XL All-Road Bar Bag
60% more room, same place on the bars

Over 60% larger than our standard All-Road Bar Bag — 2.75 liters of hemp-bodied storage that keeps a jacket, a lunch, and a camera within arm's reach instead of behind you in a pack. The main compartment closes with a waterproof zipper, which is where most bar bags fail: water tracks the teeth and wicks straight in. This one keeps it out. Zippered side pocket for the small things you'd otherwise lose in the bottom.

Over 60% larger than our standard All-Road Bar Bag.

Same idea, considerably more room. 2.75 liters of hemp-bodied storage that straps to your bars and keeps the things you actually reach for within arm's length — no stopping, no digging through a frame bag, no pulling a pack off your back.

Built for longer days: road, gravel, trail, or the commute that turns into something else.

Why hemp

Hemp fiber is stronger than cotton and holds up better to abrasion, UV, and moisture — three things a bar bag gets more of than almost any other piece of gear on a bike. It sits out front, exposed to sun and spray, and rubs against cables and bar tape every time you go over something.

It's also a genuinely low-impact crop. Hemp grows fast, needs far less water than cotton, and doesn't require the pesticide load conventional cotton does.

And it wears in rather than out. Hemp softens with use and develops a patina the way good canvas does, so the bag looks better after a season than it did in the box.

The waterproof zipper

The main compartment closes with a waterproof zipper, which is the detail that separates a bag you trust from one you don't.

Most bar bags fail at the zipper. Water tracks along the teeth and wicks straight into the compartment, so a bag that's otherwise fine leaves you with a damp phone and a soggy snack. A sealed zipper closes that path.

Rain, road spray, a creek crossing, a bottle that leaks in your jersey — the contents stay dry.

2.75 liters — what actually fits

Enough for a real day out rather than just the essentials:

Everyday riding
  • Phone, wallet, keys
  • A packable wind jacket
  • Gloves and a cap
  • Snacks for the whole ride, not just one
Long days & bikepacking
  • Camera, spare battery, power bank
  • Multi-tool, tube, tire levers
  • Sunscreen, chamois cream, first aid
  • Lunch
Commuting
  • Lock and lights
  • Rain shell
  • Lunch and a coffee thermos
  • Everything you'd otherwise carry on your back

The zippered side pocket is where the small stuff lives — the things you'd otherwise lose in the bottom of the main compartment. Keys, a credit card, a spare link, lip balm. Anything you want to find without unpacking.

Out front, where you can reach it

The argument for a bar bag over any other kind of storage is simple: you can get to it while you're moving.

A frame bag means stopping. A saddle bag means stopping and dismounting. A backpack means heat, sweat, and shoulders that hurt by hour three. A bar bag puts your snacks, your phone, and your jacket right in front of you.

Mounted out front it also keeps weight off your back and low enough not to upset the handling — which matters more as the bag gets bigger, and this one is big.

Check your cockpit before ordering. At 26.5cm long this is a wide bag. On narrow drop bars, or a bar with a lot of cables and a computer mount out front, measure the space between your hoods and check clearance to the head tube and front tire before you commit. Riders on flat and riser bars will have room to spare.

Care

Wipe it down with a damp cloth and let it air dry. Don't machine wash or tumble dry — hemp is tough, but heat and agitation are hard on the waterproof zipper and the coated fabric.

If the zipper starts to feel stiff, a little zipper lubricant on the teeth keeps the seal working the way it's supposed to.
