Race Recap: Red Hook Crit Brooklyn NO.8

The 8th installment of the Red Hook Crit brought the State Bicycle Co. team to Brooklyn, New York to compete among the top-tier fixed gear riders in the world. All images captured by photographer extraordinaire Jeffrey Olsen, Julio Bustamante, and Timothy Doyon and video by Saxon Richardson.

We rented an apartment for the riders this year so they would have space to build their bikes, cook meals, and bond together. Thanks Air BNB

Russ LaFleur getting his Undefeated dialed in.  Russ and several others on the team have vast experience as top mechanics at some of the best shops in the country.

Michael never leaves home without his guns.

Quick pre-race chat outside the apartment. Dodge Grand Caravan is ALWAYS our rental car of choice.

Thomas Keating makes his way though the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal for qualifying. This is also our May wallpaper.

The Have A Nice Day kit is always a favorite because it's so easy to spot.

Hacheon Park came all the way out from South Korea to come join us for the race.

Addison and Thomas were put together for qualifying.

Addison and Thomas put down some fast laps and were sitting 1st and 3rd in qualifying after they went through. Addison was the FASTEST AMERICAN qualifier for the entire day.

Thomas Keating sprints to maximize his time.

Scott, Thomas, Josh and Craig were in the "fast" qualifying group. Lots of heavy hitters in this group.

We decided to go with red accents for the team this year. We thought this played really well with the neutral finish on the 2015 Undefeated. Scott is also using the Essor USA 46mm Rush Track Wheels.

Scott is done with qualifying.

Nice form Michael.

Everyone was gathered around the results board all day.

Bikes lined up and ready to go.

The Red Hook Crit is know for its stunning scenery. Here you can see the Statue of Liberty accents the beautiful sunset in the background.

GAME FACES

Thomas, why so serious? (Nice M Frames).

Michael ready to roll out.

Addison Zawada back to back with the eventual winner, Ivan Ravaioli of Italy.

Addison is not afraid to spend time at the front of the race.  He was in the Top 10 all day until a crash with only a few laps to go took him out. He still managed to finish 27th overall! Check out the crash below.

Scott took off with 5 laps to go and was out in front solo. Here he looks back while the field reels him in.  He swears he was just looking at the Statue of Liberty.

Addison Zawada taking a turn.

Thomas Keating ended up finishing 13th overall with our best result and the 2nd Overall American finisher.  Teammate Josh also finished in the top 25 in 17th gaining points for himself and Team State Bicycle Co. in the overall standings.

The podium.  Next up in the Red Hook Crit series in London in July!
