First Look 👀 : The 4130 All-Road Flat Bar - Gravel / Work / Commuter / Do-It-All Bike

Is the running joke true? Are flat-bar gravel bikes really just 90’s mountain bikes? We’ve leaned into this with our release of the 4130 All-Road, now equipped with flat bars.

Starting with the similarities to the neon-glad mountain shredders of the past, the bike is built on a time-tested 4130 Chromoly Steel which is sturdy and durable, but also very compliant on the dirt. One will be quick to notice the front fork and rear end both feature a multitude of mounting points giving the rider endless possibilities as to rack, fender, bottle-cage, and cargo carrying options. The bike’s geometry is tailored to be comfortable for long days in the saddle on and off the road.

The eye-popping paint jobs pay homage to our favorite bikes and designs of yesteryear. In typical, State Bicycle Co. fashion we wanted to give riders frame styling they wouldn’t find anywhere else. Available in ‘Cupertino Pearl’ & ‘Fiesta Black’.

While the styling may be retro, the bike itself is chock-full of features suitable for the 2020’s gravel rider. Thru-axle on the frame with 100/142 spacing, a feature that is practically unheard-of in the sub-$1000 category. This feature gives the bike compatibility with a myriad of wheel set options / sizes (tire clearance up to 53c).

Built on State’s 4130 All-Road platform, when a rider orders their 4130 All-Road bike, they are able to choose 700c or 650b (at no cost difference) OR GET BOTH for $399.99.  We’ll make it easy to go back and forth between each wheel set, when you order BOTH - you get a 2nd set of fully-load wheels which includes: Wheels, Rotors, Cassette, Tires and Tubes - all you need to do is remove the thru-axle from your first wheel set, pop on the new one, tighten up, and RIDE! This is our way off offering 2-bikes-in-1. Commute to work with the 700c wheelset Monday-Friday, or lean into the mountain bike look & reel and  rip the trails on your 650b wheels on the weekends!

State Bicycle Co. enlists the 1x11 All-Road drivetrain to power these machines. The crank is our narrow-wide 1x All-Road Crank , with 42t chainring (other sizes available here) paired with a 11-42t cassette for 1:1 gearing capable of climbing the toughest grades. The newly equipped groupsets with a trigger shifter will be available through State Bicycle Co. separately as well.

So who is this bike for? We think this is the perfect ride for:

  • Riders looking to get into All-Road / Off-Road Riding
  • Commuters / bike-messengers looking for versatility and durability, especially those with uncertain road conditions (ice, snow, bad pavement).
  • Bike Packers
  • Gravel Riders looking for a more up-right / comfortable set up.
  • Mountain Bikers, not ready to go all-in on a mountain bike, or looking to use the same bike on the trail and road.
