The Top 10 State Bicycle Co. Moments of 2017 by Mehdi Farsi

As 2017 comes to an end, we'd like to take some time to reflect on some of the highlights we experienced.  Whether it was new product releases and partnerships, riding up mountains with pro cyclists, or success on a podium overseas - 2017 brought a ton of memories and continued the stoke we like to call "#exploreyourstate".  So without further ado - please enjoy some of the memories that made 2017 special for State Bicycle Co. :

10 -  State Bicycle Co. Froot's their Loop

StateBicyclexFrootLoops
When we were approached on behalf of Kellog's to do a collab bike for Froot Loops, at first we definitely were scratching our heads. However, as conversations progressed - we learned about the campaign, and we felt that this was a challenge that only State Bicycle Co. could take on and really hit a home-run with.  The end result was some great-looking bikes, lots of Froot Loops in the office, and a memorable commercial featuring Thomas Keating (see below)

9 -  State Bicycle Co. goes all-in on LaCroix

State Bicycle x La Croix

Anyone who works at the State Bicycle Co. HQ in Tempe knows that we're crazy for the delicious water-juice known as LaCroix (pronounced: "la-croy" or "luh-kwah" if you're fancy); just take a look at our fridges for proof. In November we heard that a La-Croix lounge was up for grabs for the office via a photo contest known as "#lacroixwonders" contest.  600+ cans later we had this all set up in our warehouse. A last-minute idea called for us hurl cans in the air as Carter did a wheelie. The result was a whimsical image with "floating" cans of goodness in the air. *Up until now the winner hasn't been announced. Fingers crossed we'll be reporting from the LaCroix Lounge for 2018!

8 -  Stranger things happen at Halloween Costume Cross

As always, Costume Cross was wild, fun, and a little weird. 2017 took this to a new level. With the exception of more than a few crashes, lots of fun was had. 'twas a night filled with pizza handups, beer handups, a beer handback? Mud, sand, jumps, some spills, costumes, and some arguably underdressed people too.  Relive all of the action here.

7 - The Gang goes Gravel

rebeccas private idaho

What do Rebecca's Private Idaho, Dirty Kanza 200, Chino Grinder, and Landrun 100 all have in common?  These are some of the most challenging gravel rides in the US. So of course, the team felt that it was a great idea to ride all of these grueling rides SINGLE SPEED! Not only did we ride them, we CRUSHED them, with Addison Zawada taking the top spot at Chino and Dirty Kanza 200!

6 - Cookie Feast with Phil Gaimon

We were lucky to be graced with the presence of the cookie-king himself, Phil Gaimon, for episode 2 of "Riding Fixed, Up Mountains, With Pros".  So the least we could do is surprise him a mountain-top, private dining, five-course cookie experience. Phil's reaction was great and we enjoyed hearing all about his cookie philosophy. See how it all went down here.

5 - 6061 Black Labels v2 - better and badder

After almost 4 years, the refresh of the 6061 Black Label Series was definitely welcomed. Anytime we're able to cut over 2 lbs from a bike, roll out great looking colorways, and improved geometry while lowering this costs to our customers, it is definitely worth noting. Debuting in late September the 6061 Black Label v2 became an instant hit amongst our customers, and it is easy to see why. Check them all out here.

4 - WINNING!

The State Bicycle Co. Team was on-fire in 2017 starting with a huge win at Rad Race Last Man Standing on a go-kart track in Berlin (Addison), followed by overall series champions at the So-Cal Fixed Series (Addison) and Fyxation Series (Addison and Caro). The 2017 season had some great results and great memories that will surely spring-board the team into 2018.

3 - Cheers on Mt. Lemmon w/ Travis McCabe

In June we released the first episode of "Riding Fixed, Up Mountains, With Pros". The concept is simple, we wanted to get to know our favorite Pro cyclists and what better way to conduct a natural interview than on the bike, taking them out of their comfort zone just a bit by doing in with NO GEARS (and no brakes sometimes).

Episode 1, we tackled Mt. Lemmon Arizona, with Pro Cyclist Travis McCabe. During the ride B-Hard spontaneously (we had no idea he was going to do this) pulled out a flask and offered a sip to Travis. It was at that moment the tone was set for the rest of this series. See the full video and recap here.

2 - Riding (and walking) Fixies, Up Mountains, With TDF Yellow Jersey Winners

floyd landis fixie

As life-long cycling fans, riding our bikes up mountains with Floyd Landis and Dave Zabriskie was a pretty surreal experience. All of this took place in September in Las Vegas while shooting Episode 3 of "Riding Fixed, Up Mountains, With Pros". We got to know Dave and Floyd a lot better, hear what they had to say about pro-cycling past & present, and learn about their new venture.   Stay tuned, the video will be released in January 2018!

1 - The Simpsons x State Bicycle Co.

In development since April 2014, The Simpsons x State Bicycle Co. collection was released in March 2017 and was an instant hit. Whether you're a fan of The Simpsons or not, it was hard to resist these great looking bikes, eye-catching jerseys, and fun accessories. From Bicycling Magazine to CNET to TV Guide, it seems like the collaboration was everywhere. There's no doubt that The Simpsons x State Bicycle Co. brought the heat in 2017 - but stay tuned, we're not done yet, we just might have a few more tricks up our sleeves for 2018!

THANK YOU~

On behalf of State Bicycle Co. I'd like to thank all of our employees, friends, family, riders, and customers for all of the support this year. You all are an inspiration and without each and everyone of you out there, we wouldn't be able to do what we do.

Looking forward to continuing the stoke in 2018.

Thanks ✌ #exploreyourstate
