Great Bike with Issues

Great looking bike that is fun to ride. The down tube shift is an adjustment to get used to. Sometimes the chain will slip back and forth between gears because the wire shifting wire gets loose. My front tube recently popped which sucks but I'm going to try and fix it. Overall, great bike, but it has its issues.

Get you where you're going and looks great too!

Do you sometimes run into hills or wind on your commute to school or work? Then get one of these suckers which has......GEARS! And brakes too! All in one convenient, good looking package. Steel is real, but it's still pretty light at 22lbs 10 oz for the 55c size frame. 44 tooth 1x chain ring up front and an 8 gear cassette out back. Perfect for a windy day or climbing the occasional hill. Get one of these bad boys and instantly become the coolest kid in town (results may vary).

4130 is incredible

I've waited a solid month to post this review. This bike is brilliant - it works well for daily commuting and is comfortable for long rides. I've ridden this daily to work and it handles all road conditions like a boss. It's super light and really responsive. I've also taken it on two 10 mile rides and didn't have any issues, it's comfortable for long rides. If I had one knock it's the paint scheme order - I have the Americana and the bottom is all white so I need to wipe it down regularly to keep it nice and shiny. The downtube shifter is easy to use, just be careful you don't reach too far and stick your fingers into your wheel. I would absolutely recommend this bike (and State in general) to anyone looking for a bike.

Love this bike

I wanted a bike that reminded me of the bike I had in the late 70’s / early 80’s, and this definitely checked that box. Delivery was super-quick, and customer service seems to be on-point. Most importantly, though, the bike is a joy to ride!!! Two thumbs up!

I received my bike yesterday, from being assembled at the bicycle shop. I took it out for a inaugural 28 mile club ride. What a head turner, everyone was asking me where I got it. I love the way it handles, and the way it smooths the rough roads. It feels just as nice as my carbon frame bike. It is a good value for the price.

Good bike over all

Its been about two months that I've been riding this bike and I love the bike. Its very smooth to ride, takes on the streets like a champ. The ascetics are awesome, at first I wasn't to sure on the color (Americana) but it grew on me. The bike is very responsive and surprisingly climbs hills as good as my 21 speed if not better, probably thanks to its short wheel base. I really enjoy this bike however, there are a few cons that I wish state could improve on. First and moat important, the rear derailleur. The rear derailleur is a nightmare to adust. I cant seem to keep it adjusted no more than three days at a time. I hope in the future they could possibly equip this bike with a shimano one instead. Many bikes in this price points do. Second is the tires. I almost wiped out on a puddle of water and I wasn't even going that fast. Third is the standard pedals. If you have the budget, replace them or order the upgrade hey offer (this isn't really a deal breaker). And fourth, the brakes. The brakes pads don't have much stopping power. I have also changed the stem as this bike is very aggressive. Even at changing the stem to a 17° rise still feels a bit aggressive. Over all its a great bike with a mild draw back being the rear derailleur.

A great reliable commuter

What can i say this is second bike i got for this model, 8 speed 4130 road bike, Americana and Black/Metalic, the bikes are used for commuting to both work and play. I love it! It has great gear ratio 44x16 (2.75) and 44x14 (3.14) for constant traveling and fast speed. You will find the 18t and 21t handle hills easily. I have a little dent from factory on top tube which only felt by finger but not really noticeable from afar. Overall i am very happy with these bikes, they perform like 2-3 times more expensive bikes
If you assemble your own like me (the assigned bike shop is too too far) you have to true your wheels front, back, lightly adjust derailleur, and brakes, lube chain and that is it, very easy to put together, the bike is well built and designed especially gear ratio. 4130 frame and 28mm tires absorb bumps on road and sidewalk well enough to be an all around commuter, better than aluminum ones. Love the bikes !
