A Great Ride

I purchased this bike to replace a 2013 State Undefeated I'd been riding on local (paved) trails for the past couple of years. I had purchased the Undefeated from a friend to see if I liked riding a fixie. I loved it, but the Undefeated was one size too small for me so it was time to replace it. I moved over the Ritchie seat post and stem, as well as the Cinelli bullhorn bars from the Undefeated to this new bike. I've put about 250 miles on it in the last month and it's a great ride. Completely satisfied.

V3 is great but…

The fit and finish is good on the bike, but the brakes can be stronger.

Great bike

1. Excellent lightweight somewhat aero frame with great consistent paint finishing throughout. Absolutely love the oversized state logo and internal cable route
2. Great wheelset. Pretty light as compared to the other wheel sets in this price range
3. The aggressive geometry of the frame induces great confidence on the turns
4. The elongated Saddle is extremely comfortable. Definitely comparable to fizik Antares which is on my other road bike.
5. Crank is great
6. Excellent customer service.
7. Shipping and packaging was excellent. No room for damages from external factors.

Few things that can be improved right out of the box.
~The bike gets heavy when you add the basic components that come with the bike.
~The brake levers that the bike was shipped with are not good. The braking isn’t effective at all with the stock levers.
~The brake cables were damaged in the packaging.
~The freewheel that I ordered additionally with the bike was faulty. Had to replace it with a new shimano

I ended up changing the following components
1. Changed the stem and bar with an integrated full carbon stem and drop bar.
2. Changed the aluminium spacers with the carbon ones
3. Replaced the tires with Continental GP 5000 25c. The Vitoria that the bike with are super heavy but extremely durable.
4. Got rid of the fixed gear cog coz I will be using the single speed setup.
5. Changed the seat post with a carbon 350mm post.

With all these changes my bike currently stands at 9.2kgs.

Having said all that I am super satisfied with the bike overall. In the end you get what you pay for but you can definitely upgrade and make it better. Love this bike.

Better than expected

Bike is literal perfection. I live in the city and I don’t think I could find a better bike for my commutes.

Love it (with a few nits)

Needed a 'basic' ride when visiting flat(ish) Texas. Picked up the Grey/Pink 6061 V3. I've loved it so far. I've made a few updates while, putting about 300 miles on it already. The 'color' on the rim brake-tracks are already wearing. I expected that, but not this fast.

Perfect bike for anyone wanting to ride fixed gear

I had never previously had any fixed gear bike before but decided this would be a good first bike. It's very easy to put together out of the box with some very basic tools and was ready to ride in about 30 minutes. It's also very easy to take the brakes off if you would like. I highly recommend this bike to anybody looking to get a very nice fixed gear bike that doesn't brake the bank but also has very good components.

Great for the money

State is right, I don’t believe you can find a better bike at the $749 price range. Obviously we all have our saddle preferences and things we’d like to upgrade but for a base platform this thing rides incredible. I absolutely love the geometry of the frame.

My only thing I would say is a “must upgrade” are the brake pads, if you so choose to use brakes.

Turnkey fixed gear with high build quality

I bought a 55cm State 6061 Black Label V3 at a friend's recommendation because I was looking for a complete fixed gear bike to complement my cycling training.
I preordered the full bike with Omnium 170mm and GRT55 wheel upgrades. It took 5 weeks to get the bike but it was worth the wait. The bike was assembled except for the front wheel, drop handlebars, and seatpost/saddle. Everything fit together as expected and the bulk of the assembly time was spent installing tubeless tires. It came with both front/rear brake calipers installed but I removed the rear.
The frame welds are clean and look high quality, as does the paint and decals.
The 90mm stem was too short for me so I replaced it with a 100mm. The _only_ problem I have encountered on the bike was getting the headset properly preloaded after swapping the stem. The headset was adjusted fine from the factory/assembler but I couldn't get it adjusted correctly with the stem top cap that came with the bike. I installed a different style top cap that fixed the problem.
I have ridden the bike over 100mi and I absolutely love the simplicity of the fixed gear compared to my road bike. I would definitely recommend this bike to anyone looking to get into fixed gear cycling.

Amazing all-road single speed

Purchased this bike to use as a single speed (freewheel sold separately) for fast gravel and group rides. It makes a fantastic all-road single speed. Dropping your friends while on a single speed is about as fun as it gets, especially on a bike at this price. Wheels have stayed true despite being hammered into broken pavement and gravel ruts. Bike feels wonderfully stiff, yet perfectly compliant. Added drop levers for an extra hand position and have taken this bike on a 95-mile ride. My only minor complaint is the single bottle mount, but jersey pockets work just as well as bottle cages for holding water, so it’s not a deal breaker.
