Hi all, I bought this rack for my 1981 Univega gran turismo for one main purpose. A while back before I purchased the rack, I purchased a dog carrier bag that was to be self supporting, (22 lbs). I did not like the bottom support as it is poorly designed.
To overcome this, I set out looking for a rack that would fit the criteria. It had to be able to support the weight, sit at the correct height, and have the correct dimensions. Luckily, I found the State Bicycle website and this porteur rack. It was the perfect match. Perfect fit, strength and style.
I had to bend the bracket that holds the rack to the forks ever so slightly to get that perfect fit. Really quite simple. The only other issue was that I had to replace the two metric screws (included), that secure the rack to the fork eyelets with larger metric screws that fit my particular fork. This was a non issue for me as two screws cost just pennies.
I have put several miles on my bicycle with my dog since adding this rack and am quite happy. I even rode to my brother's house for Thanksgiving carrying cranberry relish and apple pie on my new rack with ease. This is a generous size rack able to carry various size loads.
The instructions included are very thorough and easy to follow making this a very simple installation. I couldn't be happier with my purchase from State Bicycle and very fast shipping.

I was a little disappointed in the quality of this rack. It is much cheaper than other front racks so I guess you get what you pay for. The finishing is very rough, there are sharp edges and even some early signs of rust. I probably would spend more next time and get a better rack.

I was shopping for a front porteur style rack for my "around town" bike and the options were pretty expensive. Then I found the State Bicycle Co Porteur Rack at an very good price. It mounted easily and it's very sturdy, of steel construction. Rough edges someone said; haven't seen them yet. The rack does its job perfectly; highly recommended!

SAME THING as the 160$ Velo Orange Rack, but for 40$. Strong, comes with mounting material and does the job well. fits my 27inch-wheeled peugot with drop bars well.

The item was received on time and fits perfect on my great. The instructions we're a bit confusing (I didn't end up using them, it was very easy to assemble) and the rack looked like it was gift wrapped by my 2 year old, but the product itself is stellar.

It can work for different bikes, you just have to modify it for a bit, Metal work is below average, sharp edges, Definitely can cut someone with relative ease, Looks like been welded for 10cents per weld. Too much weld splatter, not finished right, If the price was lower, Definitely matches build quality. A bit priced up without the quality.

A few rough edges but overall a stout and functional rack. Easy to assemble and stylish side struts.

Installed a couple days ago on my Kona Rove ST with fenders. The metal extender part that attaches the rack to the head tube was tricky to install on first attempt -- it pushed down on my fender and inhibited tire movement! Oops. Started over & fixed that. So far so good. Wish I knew how much weight this rack is weighted for, but guess we'll see! Good price on a pretty rack.
