SRAM AXS Pod Controller — 2-Button, Discrete Clamp
Click and fire
current price, $165.00
One button pod. Any AXS component. Either side of the bar.
The AXS Pod is how you talk to a wireless drivetrain. Two buttons, a click-and-fire action, and full control over what each press actually does — assigned in the app rather than fixed at the factory.
Lighter than the Eagle AXS controllers it replaces, with better ergonomics and far more mounting adjustability. Discrete clamp included.
Click and fire
The two-button action is tuned to a specific threshold — enough resistance that you'll never trigger a shift by resting a thumb on it, light enough that a gloved hand in the cold still gets a clean, positive click.
That threshold matters more than it sounds. A controller that fires too easily gives you phantom shifts over rough ground. One that takes too much force makes you reposition your hand to use it. This sits in the middle, and it feels the same on the first ride and the two-hundredth because there's no cable tension to change.
Assign the buttons however you want
Neither button has a fixed job. Pair the Pod to the SRAM AXS app and you decide what each press does.
- Standard shifting — one button up, one button down
- Reversed — if you've come off another system and your thumbs disagree with SRAM's default
- Dropper control — run a second Pod for a Reverb AXS post
- Mixed — shifting on one, dropper on the other
The app also shows battery levels across your whole AXS setup, pushes firmware updates, and handles service reminders. Pairing takes about a minute and works without the app if you'd rather not bother.
Mounts on either side
The Pod uses a flippable design, so a single component works left- or right-handed. Combined with app-assignable buttons, that means one part covers configurations that used to require two different SKUs.
It's also multi-position on the clamp, so you can rotate and slide it to the exact spot your thumb naturally lands rather than accepting wherever the clamp happens to put it.
Discrete clamp — what that means
This version ships with a discrete clamp: its own dedicated bar clamp that mounts independently of everything else on your cockpit.
The trade against SRAM's integrated clamps is simple. A discrete clamp works with any brake lever from any brand, and gives you complete freedom on bar position. An integrated bridge or Infinity clamp gives you a cleaner cockpit with fewer clamps on the bar, but only if you're running matching SRAM brakes.
If your brakes aren't SRAM, or you just want the Pod exactly where you want it, discrete is the right choice.
Works with everything AXS
The Pod speaks the AXS protocol, which means it controls any AXS component regardless of tier or discipline:
- Eagle AXS and Eagle Transmission (T-Type) mountain drivetrains
- Road and gravel AXS drivetrains, including XPLR
- RockShox Reverb AXS dropper posts
It's also ANT+ compatible, so it plays nicely with head units and other connected devices, and it's fully approved for e-bike use.
Battery
A single CR2032 coin cell, and it lasts a very long time — think seasons, not rides. When it does go, it's a drugstore part and a thirty-second job, not a charging routine.
Worth keeping straight: this is separate from the rechargeable AXS batteries your derailleurs use. Two different systems, and people mix them up constantly.

Installation
Clamp it to the bar, torque to spec, and press the AXS button on both the Pod and the component you're pairing it to. About a minute, no app required.
Take a few minutes to find the position before you tighten it down. The whole point of a multi-position clamp is finding where your thumb naturally sits rather than reaching for a fixed spot — and it's much easier to dial in with the bolt loose than to convince yourself later that it's fine.
