Donned the "luxury sportsman" after burning out on professional cycling, Angus "Gus" Morton instead pursued a career in television and film, and later created Thereabouts. Much more than a docuseries, the movement almost single-handedly rewrote the modern road bike rule book. Gus is debatably the pioneer of contemporary adventure cycling. An email from him earlier this year, sent at a time of day and a day of the week that still lends clear-headed and sober communication, reads: "We should do one where it takes so long to climb and it's so hard that we need to sleep overnight at the top of the mountain." Welcome to Episode 6 in the Eastern Sierras of Lone Pine.

Red Bull Bay Climb in San Francisco charges up three blocks of sheer cliffside on DeHaro Street, including grades up to 21%, so get your tissues ready to cry or plug a nosebleed, and you might need a barf bag too. Full disclosure / partial spoiler: out of three of our team members that participated, one raced four heats total, another threw up after each heat, and the other one chugged a beer hand-up just before winning the semifinal race. At only two years strong, Bay Climb is must-see – one hell of an event, more literally for those in the arena.

As we wrap up the first "season" of America's #1 fixed-gear climbing interview series, "Riding Fixed, Up Mountains, With Pros", we take a look back at some of our most favorite moments that didn't make the cut.

The Hell Ride altogether is a bit unconventional. Ok it's straight up Type II fun and sort of an expression of our "harmlessly" sadistic sense of humor. Full disclosure: not one participant didn't have fun. If you attended, you know this – State Bicycle Co. guarantees some proper fun. It's non-negotiable and whether or not you suffered, and you probably did, you just don't remember it that way.

Our Retailer Spotlight Series continues with the San Antonio Bike Shop, aptly named after their hometown of San Antonio, TX. The San Antonio Bike Shop has been serving a growing cycling community just outside of downtown San Antonio for over half a decade. The shop stands in stark contrast to the adage that 'Everything is Bigger in Texas,' but I can't think of a bike shop that I've been in that does more with less space and still somehow never feels cluttered. Instead, it seems to have helped create a focus on carrying everything that a cyclist needs, and nothing they don't.

 Coryn Rivera is THE consummate PRO in all senses of the word. Her 72 (and counting) National Titles speak for themselves. We had the pleasure of joining the powerhouse of women's cycling, for a jaunt up Glendora Mountain Road (GMR for short). State Bicycle Co. rider, Erica Schwanke, talks the pro race calendar, women's cycling, snacks and more in this episode of "Riding Fixed, Up Mountains, With Pros" with Coryn Rivera.

It's a win, ok? Well at least we dodged E. coli. I think we're in the clear? One thing is for certain – racing is serious.

In the metaphysical world, Turquoise lends a positive mental state of creativity, intuition, sensitivity, and serenity. In the cycling world, TJ Eisenhart is the quintessence and embodiment of Turquoise, the stone of communication. Make no mistake, this isn't a character he could break.
